We are always looking to meet with candidates who are interested to work with us and offer both entry level roles for those with no tax expertise and senior roles for experienced practitioners.
We are leading the way in the cross-border tax sector in taking advantage of the latest technology to enhance both the service experienced by our clients and the experience of our staff at work.
I joined Citrine International after having spent a year at HMRC. I was looking to expand my tax knowledge and take a more holistic approach to taxation than the limited aspect-based approach of my previous work. Expatriate taxation allows me to gain exposure to a broad and challenging area of tax that I hadn't experienced before, while the varied backgrounds and needs of our clients mean that the work can change a lot between clients and keep me on my toes. In addition to compliance work in preparing clients' tax returns, I have participated in several pieces of consultancy work, allowing me a chance to research and produce longer projects in areas of taxation that I would not otherwise experience. Dealing with clients' tax-related needs directly has created a sense of investment in and meaning arising from my work that would not be found in a larger, more anonymous organisation.
I have started to work towards becoming an Enrolled Agent, qualified with the US' Internal Revenue Service, but I feel the more valuable aspect of my personal development while here has been the balance of respect and trust in my ability to learn and produce good work with support from my colleagues. This has allowed me to push my boundaries and develop confidence in dealing with all aspects of the business in a way that feels that I am making a solid contribution, while feeling confident that there is support that reflects my level of experience.
I joined Citrine International after graduating from my bachelors of Economics. I wanted a job that was going to mix both the analytical and technical aspects that I enjoyed from my degree. I thought Expatriate Tax would combine both of these, as you need a deep understanding of your clients and the interplay of the rules of their jurisdictions. I had no prior tax knowledge, and despite being thrown in the deep end, it is thoroughly enjoyable and is rewarding to learn so much about tax. Furthermore, I was excited by the prospective career progression and the qualifications I could achieve within tax.
I enjoy having the responsibility of working in a small team and having clients that I am responsible for. It feels like you really get to know the clients as you have to be very thorough and meticulous to fully understand their individual situation. By the time you have finished preparation of their return, it feels like they're a good friend! Working in tax definitely keeps you on your toes, as every day is different and you are exposed to so many different clients and situations. With the ever changing rules and regimes, you will never get bored.
The most enjoyable aspect of the job is ultimately the team. There is a knowledgeable and caring team that surrounds us. They are generous with both their time and knowledge in order to help you improve and further your knowledge. It feels like a tight knit community, that is ever growing.
